In a few days time my wife Lois, daughter Sasha (who is 9) & I will begin our laptop nomad travels across the globe.

We are heading off from Perth on a 7 month trip covering many countries including and not necessarily in this order-

United Arab Emirates (UAE), England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, USA, Canada, Japan & Malaysia.

It will be a working holiday (much less work and more holiday is the plan) as we will all have our laptops with us so we can do some work, school work and business while we are away.

The fact that this is possible still amazes me! The new Nokia N95 8GB phone that I am getting is a mini computer in itself with full email and web browsing, GPS Navigation, WIFI, 5 Mega pixel camera with video etc etc WOW all in one little package!

To think about doing this 10 years even 5 years ago was just not as easy as it is today. It is the true advantage of having an internet based business rather than a physical based business.

We will be recording and documenting our trip along the way on our websites www.laptopnomads.com and www.travelbytrain.tv
We will be doing most of our land travel by train as we just love the relaxed pace and flexibility that train travel offers (which is why I have a few train travel domains such as www.itraintravel.com, www.travelbytrain.net & www.travelbytrain.tv) I have chosen to build the travelbytrain.tv site first as it will be mainly video footage on the site so it lends itself more to the .tv than the net IMHO.

None of these sites are live at this time but will be within the next 2 -3 weeks. Any feedback or ideas for the sites are welcome.

It should be a blast and I am looking forward to spending this time with my family and creating some fantastic memories for my daughter as she gets older.

The podcasts will continue as normal which should be a hoot using skype all over the world to interview other people who are in different parts of the globe. I just finished an interview yesterday with Brian Johnson from www.domainparkingmoney.net that I will edit and upload next week.

Well I have been wanting to interview these guys since I first had the idea of doing some podcasts about domain names at Oz Domainer and what a treat it was!

According to Michael it was the first time that both himself & David had been recorded together for an interview.

Michael & David Castello (Michael on the left & David on the right of photo (Picture courtesy of www.dnjournal.com) are great guys with a huge depth of knowledge on domain names especially when it comes to Geo Domains.

They own through their company CCIN (Castello Cities Internet Network) some great names such as www.PalmSprings.com, www.Nashville.com, www.Acapulco.com and many more which are also listed on the Associated Cities website that they joined back in 2004.

They also own some catagory killer generic domains such as www.Whisky.com, www.GolfClub.com, www.Daycare.com & www.Bullion.com

Both have a great story to tell and a wealth of knowledge to share for those who are wise enough to listen. So if you have even the slightest interest in Geo Domains make sure you listen to this podcast.

Today it was my daughter Sasha’s school fair (or fete as we say here in Australia) to get the parents and community involved in raising funds for the school.

I was providing entertainment with my band playing the drums and my wife Lois was helping out at various stands.

Just as we got to the school my wife parked her little Suzuki Swift with a few other cars under some of the large Gum Trees outside the school grounds. I was busy unloading our other car that had my drums in it.

That was when it ALL happened!!

My wife went back to her Suzuki to put a gift basket she had just purchased back into the car so she did not have to carry it around all afternoon.

She put the gift basket in the car, shut the door, took three steps away from the car when CRASH!!!

Down came a big ass branch of the tree she was parked under and it smashed down onto the roof of our car.

Oh My God!! Talk about being watched over by Angels or Guardians or whatever you like to call them.

A few seconds earlier and my wife would have been in BIG trouble and the day could have ended with a very different story. The tree caved in the whole roof and punched a whole through the roof.

Fortunately insurance should cover all the repairs or replacement of the car as it is only 12 months old and the insurance company replaces cars that are under 3 years old with a new one if it is totaled.

We do spend a great deal of time talking about parking companies and which ones are the best etc but we should also watch where we park our cars and be very, very grateful every day for the health and safety of our loved ones.
