Don’t Waste Your Time With ccTLD Names!!
Well thats what many narrow minded domainers will tell you, but not this one!
If you have been keeping an eye on what has been happening in the domain world over the past 18 months or so you will have noticed a significant increase in ccTLD sales across the globe. Most recently the sale of Fly.co.za at Traffic in Vegas for US$65,000. Now yes of course I hear all the .com crazed domainers yelling “but Fly.com would be worth at least 10 times that price”. No SHIT!!
But how many of them could pony up and pay the price for the .com?? Very few! So as far as opportunity and price of entry go ccTLD’s are great value are are overlooked by many domainers for reasons that are usually based on ignorance!
Just go and take a look at Ron Jackson’s DN Journal Website and the domain sales list and see how many of the top 10 sales of last week were ccTLD.
ccTLD’s Rock and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!

you’re so correct! Yes .com is King, but what happens when .coms become the BMWs of domains and many people can’t afford solid .coms? Here lies the source of demand for ccTLDs. the ROI on ccTLDs will prove to be solid in the long run..

Right on Ed! As you know I’m with you 100% and it was definitely made even more clear at TRAFFIC through the auction and the panels.
I wish you were there!! Looking forward to seeing you next time I’m down under!

@ Kemji
Right on!
The thing is it is already happening in many countries where the .com is associated with being an American address and the local ccTLD is used much more.
This is the the case in Australia, UK, Germany etc etc etc. The next few years are going to be huge for ccTLD’s, its just basic common sense!
Cheers

LOL. I wanted to grab peoples attention! I love the .CO.IN & .IN ccTLD’s and have made most of my money selling those extensions.
I have not noticed any drop in what I have been selling my names for. But the best is still to come for Indian names.
Hang on to them is what I would do.
Cheers

Country code domains have held up well in the last year, with prices steady or rising, especially in European countries. It is surprising sometimes to see what .de domains with hyphens sell for. I think country code domains will continue to do well, more so in countries where you see the home extension used often in advertising.

I have got FLY.com.pa (ccTLD for Panama) up for sale for only $15,000. This is less than 25% of the price paid for FLY.co.za.
Anyone interested, please contact me.

by coincidence i was checking through DNJournal archives this weekend and noticed fly.co.za was reported sold in November ’09 for $5k so it is quite a flip!

@Ed Polish domain market is one of the best developed markets in Europe – there are several aftermarket websites, dropcatchers and the market is very liquid. $100k .pl sales are getting more and more popular.
