I fully agree with Ed , .in is an excellent domain to bet on .

Indian people are well educated and can write and speak good english. the power of india now is 50 % of its total population 1100 million people are under 30. almost 50 % of the same youth knows english and able to speak.

So i believe its huge potentail there for internet market and as well domain marker in india. I am a domainer who started in .in space less than year back , but i am getting the rewards through monetization. which showing the potential of .in domain space.

.In truly an international domain.

cheers,

Hi,

I am currently backpacking around India and its interesting to see what companies are using for thier domain name extensions.
Theres quiet a few big companies using the .co.in with heavy tv promotion.

Also interesting when you use google over here the default is google.co.in. I feel google using the .co.in will enfluence the .co.in extension.
Still alot of .com's and .net's also being used by local companies over here aswell.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers,

Hi David,

Yes I have picked up a few myself recently.

Not sure if GoDaddy will change that in the future but for now I am happy to have their marketing muscle behind the name.

Hi David,

The .IN is considered the premium Indian extension and is marketed the most but that said if you plan to develop the name it would pay to take the .CO.IN off the table just to be sure.

I have more .IN domains myself and am mainly focussing on that extension for India.

I would say that the .CO.IN is the equivalent of Australia's .NET.AU and the .IN is the .COM.AU

Hope that helps.

This is good to see, especially at this price point. I just hand-registered probably the last remaining dictionary words.

Something I found interesting, though, was that you can't bulk search for .in domains on GD, nor can you put them up for auction.

I am glad Godaddy is a .in registrar now. I just renewed a bunch of .in domains elsewhere in December for 20$ US EACH. Godaddy is already cheaper than that, and they'll likely have a 'transfer in' special to kick things off. Also, my current .in registrar charges for email and domain forwarding, and it's free at Godaddy.

That is great news. I have registered .in names through .in registrars before and that has not been half as easy as it is to handle such a thing on godaddy. Let's hope the .in market place really benefits from this move from godaddy.

It's really good news and will give the Indian domain market a lot of added exposure and credibility.

As for pricing, the price for .in is great - for .co.in not so great. If you manage to use a coupon, the .in pricing might even be the lowest of any registrar.
